Please share your thoughts on Oregon’s new HOUSE BILL 608. It dramatically affects Oregon landlords. Many are putting their long term rentals on the market for sale. They do not like the 7% RENT CONTROL..PLUS CURRENT COL 3.4%… MAX 12 MONTHS. YOU CAN ONLY INCREASE RENT 1 X PER 12 MONTHS, EVEN IF YOU HAVE A MOVE OUT…. AND CHANGE OF TENANT. This law had an emergency clause. More people need to be clear on the law in effect today. Thank you so much. 40+ year landlord in Oregon.
Karen,
I wrote about my thoughts on Rent Controls at this post
I still contend that it is a misguided policy. Unfortunately, it is also one I expect to see more of in the next few years.
I’m not surprised by the reaction in Oregon. The same sorts of issues are happening elsewhere.
Please keep us posted with further comments on developments to fellow landlords in Oregon.
Thanks for reading and for the comment,
Kevin
